Thornton is an exploratory design that was constructed with inspiration from mid-century modern architecture. In doing so, utilizing elevation changes, windows, clean lines, and natural materials to focus attention towards an open layout floor plan. Constructed for Professor John Barton’s course at Stanford University, Thornton was presented as a concept for a guest home constrained to less than 750 square feet residing at the corner of Santa Teresa St and Lomita Dr.
